GLFT - Great Lakes Stewardship Initiative - Great Lakes Stewardship Initiative

Project Details

Groundswell prepared and engaged teachers and their grade 6–12 students in place-based service learning projects related to environmental, math, and science education. Working with 47 individuals representing 37 community organizations and 23 teachers in eight schools throughout the Kent Intermediate School District, Groundswell held eight professional development sessions, three “Dinner & Dialogue” teacher/community partner events and two Student Showcases from 2009 to 2011. Groundswell reached 1,439 students in the district who have worked directly in environmental stewardship and service. Groundswell also raised more than $30,000 through donations and grants, in addition to the funds provided by GLFT through the Great Lakes Stewardship Initiative.
