Project Details

The Lake Superior Stewardship Initiative (LSSI)  brought together schools and community partners to prepare K-12 students from Houghton, Baraga, Keweenaw, Gogebic, and Ontonagon Counties, to become knowledgeable citizens concerned about the Lake Superior watershed and actively engaged in stewardship projects in their community.  During the project period (July 1, 2017-December 31, 2091),  GLFT funding directly supported over 150 hours of professional development for more than 75 educators, provided project mentor and mini-grant support for more than 2000 students each year, hosted numerous student and community programs, and initiated systems to secure sustained funding and enhance community support for LSSI.
