Project Details

The GLC held a symposium and workshop on environmental dredging windows in Lake Michigan on April 28-29, 2021.  The use of windows to protect aquatic ecosystems has long been of interest to state and federal resource managers in the Great Lakes region. The project convened agency staff from the four Lake Michigan states to share methodologies, processes and criteria for windows establishment; presented and shared scientific research on dredging windows and facilitated a discussion exploring the potential for a collaborative, science-based approach for a more coordinated framework for windows in Lake Michigan. A proceedings of the symposium was produced.
