Project Details

Discovery Pier partnered with Michigan United Conservation Clubs, Inland Seas Education Association, and the Northwest Michigan Fishing Club to develop the Discover Fishing at the Pier Program. Utilizing the newly renovated Discovery Pier on West Grand Traverse Bay, this program introduces northwestern Michigan youth to the Great Lakes fishery through handson workshops which include Great Lakes food web exploration, basic fishing skills, fish identification, and stewardship. A total of 104 youth and 73 supportive adults participated in four programs between 2023 and 2024.
