2025 Habitat Protection and Restoration - Habitat protection and restoration

Project Summary

Tip of the Mitt Watershed Council (TOMWC) will build on past fisheries enhancements by completing the engineering, design, and removal of an undersized culvert limiting fish passage and causing flooding on Tannery Creek, one of the largest tributaries to Lake Michigan’s Little Traverse Bay. We will also explore options for restoring the remainder of lower Tannery Creek with an engineering alternatives study to address erosion/sedimentation problems, reduce stormwater pollution, and improve instream and floodplain habitat.
