GLFT - Great Lakes Stewardship Initiative - Great Lakes Stewardship Initiative

Project Details

The Lake Superior Stewardship Initiative (LSSI) prepared K-12 students to become knowledgeable citizens engaged in activities that enhance their school, community and the Lake Superior watershed. LSSI provided professional development, financial and mentoring support to school-community teams as they engaged in stewardship projects that provided authentic learning experiences focused on community cultural heritage, and the Great Lakes. Through participation in LSSI, students and teachers learned how to work with community partners to take action using informed decisions concerning the stewardship of their local watershed. LSSI partners are recognized for their efforts in bringing about positive change in their communities and schools and developing stewardship behaviors.
